About Me

I'm married with one son. I grew up on the outskirts of London and Kent but have subsequently lived in various places throughout England.  I currently live in The Midlands.

I have always been a real book worm and love nothing better than to escape into a story. I can remember sitting in my bedroom when I was about five years old, writing a story about a cat. I decided then that I wanted to be an author ... it just took me a few years to start!

I read most genres but particularly enjoy Fantasy: there is something about that genre that challenges the reader to open their mind, to explore their imagination and to let go of the mundane.

My favourite authors vary from Jane Austen and Elizabeth Gaskell (and more recently Amanda Grange) through to modern writers like Julie Kagawa, Heather Killough Walden, Amanda Hocking, Claire Farrell, Jeff Inlo and Melanie Nilles.

"You're mad, bonkers, completely off your head.  But I'll tell you a secret:  All the best people are"
Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland.

I enjoy travel and have been fortunate enough to visit many places on this wonderfully varied planet. Wherever we travel, I love to talk to people, comparing life-styles and experiences: from the fantasy of Florida's Disney, the bustle of Barcelona or the time-machine that is Pompeii, I have met some wonderful people.

I’ve never understood the needs and desire of people to ‘conform’: to slot in some sort of neat, stereotypical niche.  People are complex and fascinating because of their diversity and those differences should be celebrated.

My pet hates are arrogance, laziness, prejudice and lack of compassion.

I love coffee, books, poetry, movies and hiking/hill-walking: I love being outdoors, no matter what the weather or season.

I also enjoy music festivals, concerts, socialising and chatting with friends over a glass or two.

Friendship is important. I would do anything for my friends and know that they will always be there for me. I love spending time with them and do so as often as possible. Genuine friendships are things to be nurtured and treasured.

I adore my husband and son ... they literally mean the world to me.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank readers for their support.  Please use the ‘Find Me’ tab on this blog: I love making new friends!

Kind regards,  Lizzie.
